Hi there, I'm Edrica!
Greetings! My name is Edrica Coleman. I'm a black cis-gendered licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in the mental health field and serving children, adolescents, young adults, parents, and families.
My approach
In my therapy practice, I offer in-depth holistic psychotherapy while using a variety of evidence-based practices and interventions to guide others on their healing journey. This includes but is not limited to CBT, DBT, Trauma Focused CBT, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. My own experiences as a black woman in America inform my practice to be trauma-informed, and culturally responsive while holding a nonjudgemental space for my clients to feel safe to begin or continue on their healing journey.
My focus
Some of the themes I have explored with clients include but are limited to depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, traumatic life experiences, anger, self-doubt, academic/ work difficulties, relationships, self-harm, and suicidality.
My communication style
My approach is very lighthearted with lots of humor.
My journey to therapy
Based on my own struggles as at-risk youth in East Oakland, I felt compelled to be the person I needed as a youth in crisis. With this in mind, I began working with homeless youth and low-income families. Being determined to make a lasting impact, I sought and obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Welfare and embarked on my journey as a clinical social worker focusing on community mental health.
