Getting to know Gaëlle Carey

Gaëlle Carey was born in Brussels, Belgium, and moved to the United States as a child. Growing up in Texas, Gaëlle developed a passion for helping others. She became a medical assistant after high school and worked for many years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Gaëlle later relocated to San Diego, where she found her true calling: mental health. She earned her Master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix and became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Now, she helps individuals, couples, and families work through personal challenges. Gaëlle is a published author of *Cognitive Distortions: How To Catch the 10 Most Dangerous Thinking Villains.* With over 20 years of experience in diverse clinical settings, she brings extensive knowledge to her role. Her background includes emergency inpatient care, outpatient mental health clinics, substance abuse treatment, eating disorder residential facilities, hospice, and school and county-funded programs supporting children and families. My approach Gaëlle provides clinical assessment and therapeutic care to adolescents and adults seeking help with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use disorders, anger management, PTSD, personality disorders, ADHD, and LGBTQ+ issues. In her current role at an outpatient clinic in San Diego County, she specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is certified in the Incredible Years Program, Complex PTSD, Clinical Trauma Specialist, and Sex Trafficking & Sex Industry Exploitation Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS-S). My focus I have worked with all types of people, from CEOs to stay-at-home parents. My ideal client is anyone interested in empowering their life. I am direct and like to get right down to business, but I also genuinely care about my clients’ success.
