The apartment is great, the timing is fine, but I felt extremely judged, which is the last thing I wanted to go for. When talking about romantic history, I was criticized about my "behavior" before I'd even began going into details. I felt like I wanted to lie to her in the way a high schooler would to their mother. I also told an extremely personal story about a sibling, and the following session I was asked if I had any brothers or sisters. I am fine with no note taking but at least pretend like you care/remember. Finally, she left me a voicemail telling me that I wasn't wise for quitting, I clearly had issues, and should absolutely stay in therapy in an angry dismissive tone. She had clearly had a patient quit that she'd mistaken for myself. The level of careless unprofessionalism was astounding. Stunted my desire to seek help again for a long time.

Dr Hicks is one of the most caring individuals I’ve ever met. Till this day I continue seeking her services. She’s helped me overcome a number of disabling mental issues such as anxiety, depression , and panic attacks . Her extensive knowledge of behavioral therapy helps me to live day to day with hope . She genuinely cares for your well being and positive outlook on life . I definitely look forward to my next appointment each week. 5 stars for me .

Please save yourself from this horrible person. She’s really aggressive and difficult to talk to and doesn’t know how to respect others or her profession. On top of that, she incorrectly charged me for money I did not owe her. I wish I had read her yelp reviews before going in. Please do read them before you think of visiting her. She’s the last thing you need if you’re going through a rough patch.

Elaine has helped me so much since my first session with her. Not only did she make me feel comfortable but she made me feel progress after one session. I have seen five different therapist in my life and none of them compare to Elaine. She is kind, wise and honest. I would highly recommend.

When I went to see Elaine, I was struggling and although this sounds cliché, not my best self. Since then, she's been extremely helpful and I feel renewed. She listens, is attentive, and supports your personal growth and self-reflection and she'll tell you like it is. In the past my therapist said "poor you" and that made me feel worse. It's uplifting to hear honesty as opposed to pity. Highly recommend Elaine. I look forward to seeing her each visit.

Elaine is great- in her decades of experience as a therapist she’s pretty much seen it all many times over, which makes her very perceptive and insightful and allows her to offer evidence-based guidance for working out your issue. She’s a true expert in her field

I've been seeing Dr Hicks for about 7 months now and she's helped me so much. My social anxiety was at a high when I started seeing her, and I was coming close to depression. Dr. Hicks has been great about helping me figure out the best ways to work through those issues and live my best life. I've been so much happier in the past few months. Dr Hicks is very straightforward, does not beat around the bush - I find this approach refreshing and appreciate it.

Elaine is great, our visits to her are literally saving our marriage. Our conversations are very productive and are fostering a positive change in both our lives. I notice there are some negative reviews about the actual process of seeing her- she works out of her apartment so there isn't a traditional office, no waiting room, etc. This doesn't bother me, and her kitty is very sweet. Occasionally your session may be interrupted as she has to deal with the door or phone, but this isn't a big deal to me. Her methods really work for us and her insight has been incredibly helpful.

Her bedside manner was very poor. She was very upset when I came early, and gruffly told me to wait at starbucks. She seemed to be primarily interested in her fee.

Dr. Elaine Hicks has been incredible in helping me through my anxiety and depression. There's nothing I feel like I can't talk to her about, which has been so crucial to my recovery. Since seeing her I have rediscovered peace of mind and feel confident about my future in a way that I haven't felt in years. Highly recommend her services to anyone and everyone!

Elaine is very direct, which she prides herself on. I booked the appointment for myself and my partner for couples therapy, and whilst she had some useful points for us to work on, by the end of the session, she didn’t seem to know my name even though my boyfriend used it multiple times. She might be great for someone who has had a traditional life path (she spent some time complimenting my boyfriend on the school he went to), but we both left feeling as though she had been quite condescending towards me. We won’t be seeing her again.

Elaine Hicks is one of the most thoughtful, compassionate and yet no-nonesense people I have ever met. She has been incredibly kind and understanding with me, listening carefully and helping me pinpoint exactly what I need help with. She easily calculated the best way to communicate with me, and she makes me feel incredibly comfortable in speaking with her. She is mindful of my feelings and never talks down to me, but firm in letting me know what I need to do in order to better my life. We've had three appointments working together so far in cognitive behavioral therapy, and I can't wait to see what we accomplish together.

Elaine is very experienced, I have started seeing her regularly and I am very happy with my choice. I've felt much more in tune with myself mentally and emotionally after just a couple of sessions and I am able to more constructively work through my problems. One of the best decisions I've made!

Dr. Hicks has helped me immeasurably in the past few months. She combines practical solutions and actions with uncovering the deep seeded roots of issues. She has helped motivate me to make a number of positive changes in my life and to have a better understanding of myself and the things that hold me back.

I first came to Elaine in a crisis situation with my husband. In the first session, she had already given me helpful advice on how to approach my decision on what to do about my relationship. After each session, I walk away with a new perspective. She has helped me save my marriage, and my sanity. Now I am doing great and still seeing her every week.

I don't usually write reviews but this was one of the worst experiences I have had. It was my first time seeing a therapist and a bit apprehensive to see someone else. She answered her phone throughout the session, was abrasive, and had animals roaming her apartment. I emailed To cancel an upcoming session and was yelled at. I would not recommend this therapist.

I came to therapy very unhappy over a difficult marriage. Now I am out of this marriage & very happy with a healthy relationship. Elaine was wonderful.

From the beginning, she was hostile. I took that it stemmed from arriving at 5:40 pm when the appointment was at 5:30 pm. Granted... I tried calling her in advance. We sat down I observed her just as she observed me. She seemed to be repeating her words, voice shaking. She seemed to be suffering an ailment because she had this jitter to her body. I overlooked it and got comfortable. From the beginning she asked me my ethnicity and where I was from. I didn’t take it as that she was racially profiling me until the end. We went into my childhood, mother and all that fun stuff. She was defensive about my childhood and fear of death. We touched upon school, and what I aspire to be. Immediately said fashion stylist and consultants make no money. If I don’t attend FIT forget it, I will never excel in the fashion realm. Disregarded my dream of incorporating fashion in entrepreneurship, claiming entrepreneurs do not make money. When we touched upon my current job she assumed I was getting my insurance through them, when I told her I did not, all hell broke loose. She demanded to know who paid my insurance, and I explained I got it through the NYS but that I told showed her my card prior to us beginning the session. Apparently she said I was a welfare case, but I repeatedly handed her my card and information. I even had the pictures and details when I booked the appointment on ZocDoc. She then proceeds to curse and say I need to make a cash payment now, I told her how humiliating this was and how this attitude isn’t helping the anxiety. I called my insurance in the morning and apparently it would have been covered. I immediately tried to call my insurance again, but she gave me no time. She screamed get out. I got up and tried to grab my things and then she screamed “Get out now. Based on everything I heard you're going nowhere good in life” I was shocked to say the least my immediate reaction. “(Explicit Content) waste of my time, you're a welfare case, get the (Explicit Content) out now" This did not even give me time to put my coat on and ran out in the rain.
