Getting to know Emily Meller

I strive to make clients feel less alone by offering a warm, non-judgmental space. Together, I help both individuals and couples develop healthy strategies for healing and growth. Everyone deserves to be heard and understood. With empathy, I'll guide you towards empowerment and a better sense of self. I hold a Master's in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Bachelor's degree from Binghamton University, which inform my compassionate and informed approach to care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In my counseling approach, I focus on guiding patients to understand that life struggles are a natural part of the human experience. I do so with empathy, an open mind, and a non-judgmental attitude, creating a safe and supportive environment for them to explore their emotions and experiences. My goal is to foster understanding, acceptance, and growth as individuals, and couples, navigate through their various challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At the core of my beliefs is a deep commitment to de-stigmatizing mental health and fostering a culture of acceptance and understanding. I firmly believe in creating a safe and comfortable space where patients feel empowered to prioritize their own healing journey. By normalizing discussions around mental health and providing a supportive environment, I aim to encourage individuals to seek the help they need without fear or shame, ultimately promoting overall well-being and resilience. My goal is to help people become the best, most genuine, versions of themselves they can be.

Emily helped me learn new ways to deal with my anxiety and past trauma. This was my first time with a therapist and she immediately made me feel comfortable and heard. I have many new tools in my toolkit to help with my anxiety and I would never have been able to get to where I am now without this help. I would highly recommend her.
