Getting to know Javeria Yousuf

Javeria believes mental health exists across the board, no matter the age or culture. From experience and observation, she has found that when people feel heard, validated, and valued by those we trust, the impact is significant and lastingly beneficial. Working on “self”, developing the skills needed to navigate life, building relationships, and maintaining overall well-being can be challenging. Understanding “self” can be complicated and overwhelming. It tends to bring up various aspects of our lives which have likely contributed into shaping us who we are. Javeria has a passion for helping clients dig deeper into their past and/or current circumstance in order to help them understand the different aspects of who they are as individuals. Understanding ourselves better then allows us to feel and act authentically in decisions, relationships, etc to come. Javeria hopes to meet you where you are while building a relationship based on trust, rapport, and empathy. Javeria received her Master’s of Science in Counseling & Development from Texas Woman’s University. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Counseling from University of North Texas.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Javeria is primarily humanistic, but client centered in her approach. Because she believes in meeting people where they are, her approach can be eclectic - dependent on the client's needs. Javeria strongly believes the client to be the expert in their life as each person lives their own unique experiences. She understands the importance of working together in a non-judgmental, safe space, and recognizes this as a necessity in order to best establish the client’s needs and goals. It is important to Javeria to foster a relationship with her clients that encourages them to be the most authentic versions of themselves. Her hope is that the individual therapeutic relationship will have components of trust, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard that can then be generalized into your own life.
