Good day to you! I LOVE couples’ work. Couples are so extraordinary, and for two people to sincerely bring their stuff to work through together – that’s just so sacred. I’m not talking about personal stuff that needs to be worked through, but even the things they can’t stand about the other person. When their hearts ask for ways to understand one another and heal their hurts, the stage is set to allow a new level of knowing one another in the relationship. It’s where the magic happens! One of my favorite moments in couples counseling is when there’s a shift toward deeper understanding and a feeling of love in the air. I can see the couple lean toward one another or even physically reach for the other. It’s wonderful. I enjoy working with those who feel inner conflict and can’t seem to find their identity or walk in it for individual work.
I’ve noticed I tend to have clients who are artists, creatives, or early-mid career professionals trying to navigate the high demands of work while also needing to respond to their own inner or relational struggles. This individual might ask how they “got here,” and they might feel entirely dislocated from the self. It’s a place of loneliness sometimes and great pain. They might feel self-shame or disappointed. I LOVE working with these individuals.
