In this Bay Ridge practice setting, I work together with my colleague Eleonora Yerukhimovich, LMHC to explore ways in which the needs of the population we serve are best met, and to develop interventions that cater to the individual needs of each client. Ms. Yerukhimovich has extensive experience working with children, families, and women who have a history of domestic violence. Ms. Yerukhimovich is fluent in Russian language.
As a mental health counselor I have undergone extensive training in treating adults, children, and adolescents in addition to couples and families. My experience includes specific training and experience in addressing domestic violence and developing safety plans as needed for those at risk. In my time served as the director of a NYS OMH outpatient mental health clinic in the NYC region I was able to successfully train staff in therapeutic interventions to address the needs of a high risk population that promoted the quality of life and included health monitoring interventions. My approach to treatment is based on a psychodynamic approach of which I have received an extensive post graduate 2 years training from the New York Psychoanalytic Institute and I also incorporate mindfulness skills training and distress tolerance into the treatment approach. I provide an emphatic approach in a comfortable setting and assist in addressing psychiatric referrals as needed. I am an associate member of the American Psychological Association, a member of the New York Mental Health Counseling Association, and I am a member of the The American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) Psychotherapist Associates. I am also a member of the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (NYPSI)

Joseph Lovecchio was at once extremely straight forward and compassionate. I felt immediately comfortable with him. He was a careful listener; picking up on every detail, and probed further in thoughtful, sensitive increments. I also appreciated that he is goal oriented, and is not looking to see me every week for the rest of my life. Rather, he is looking to develop a set of clear and achievable objectives and a plan toward reaching them. He is interested in a finite process, however long that takes, that yields healing.
