With 30 years of experience, Julie has counseled multicultural populations facing various mental health and substance use challenges. She employs an eclectic approach that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Person-centered therapy, EMDR, Psychoeducation, Psychodynamic therapy, and symptom relief techniques such as grounding, mindfulness, and guided imagery. Julie’s hope is that everyone entering counseling feels accepted, seen, and supported. It is her joy to witness lives transformed through self-acceptance and self-love.
Julie served in the U.S. Navy as a Chinese linguist and worked for the National Security Agency with a Top-Secret Clearance. She has a strong passion for serving those who have experienced trauma from combat. Raised in Illinois and Pennsylvania, Julie was stationed in California, Texas, and Maryland and has also lived in Florida, North Carolina, and Michigan. She became a Christian in 1976 while performing in the musical Godspell, and her love for theater and faith remains strong. Julie has created dramas for foreign and domestic mission trips and has written a full musical play. Her mission work has taken her to Brazil, England, Wales, the Bahamas, and Guatemala. These diverse experiences have enriched her empathy and ability to relate to a wide variety of human experiences.
