More about Dr. June Malone, PhD
I’m Dr. June Malone. I’ve been a practicing Clinical Psychologist in Connecticut for over 30 years. I have worked with people all ages from Moms with newborns to seniors adjusting to the changes that occur with aging, and everyone in between. I combine a variety of approaches in order to find the best fit for my patients.
My approach
My formal training was in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, along with Psychodynamic Therapy. I am also formally trained in Behavior Modification and Rational Emotive Therapy and hypnosis. My clinical approach depends on the need of the patient and his or her responsiveness to various approaches. Many of my patients also benefit from understanding the body/mind connection that has helped many manage stress, anxiety and depression.
My focus
I am comfortable treating a wide variety of patients including young children, adolescents, teens, young adults, parents, the elderly of all backgrounds and cultures. I have particular expertise treating anxiety and depression, ADHD, dissociative disorders, and adjustment disorders.
My communication style
I work to create a safe, non-judgmental welcoming environment in which people can share openly without judgement or fear. Sessions are typically relaxed, lending themselves to comfortable conversations and sometimes, we even laugh.
My journey to mental healthcare
Psychotherapy is a calling. I have been a psychologist for over 30 years. I was attracted to the field because of my basic love of people, all people. What could be more loving than to sit and listen to someone who needs someone to talk to. What could be more important than being able to provide insight and help to relieve someone’s pain. I am driven to do this work by my patients — by the 12 year old whose family is falling apart; by the elderly husband whose wife is suffering from dementia; by the couple desperately trying to find their way back to each other, by the new mother suffering from postpartum depression.
