Hi there, I'm Kathryn!
Hello, my name is Kathryn Harper, LPC/LPCC, and I have worked over 20 years in the counseling field. My therapeutic approach combines cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and positive psychology theory and techniques.
My approach
The most important component in therapy is the connection between the client and therapist. I work to establish trust and safety, for a client to feel understood. In our work, I'll use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to explore how thoughts affect feelings and experiences. We'll use positive psychology principles to explore your strengths and how to use those to improve your life.
My focus
I work with adults who are coping with stress that shows up as anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. I also help people with life transitions and relationship challenges.
My communication style
I work with clients in a collaborative, interactive way. In our initial sessions, we will assess your challenges and identify preliminary goals to help you feel better. Most of my clients experience a sense of relief and being understood within the first sessions, and I check in periodically on whether a client feels therapy is helping and what might need to change.
