A Maryland local, Krystyn received her Bachelor’s degree in Family Science and Human Development from the University of Maryland, College Park. After graduating, she worked as an early childhood educator until deciding to pursue clinical mental health counseling. She earned her Master’s in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and joined Healthy Foundations (or the Heartwood Program) shortly thereafter. Krystyn believes the client has a primary responsibility for themselves, as it is often our choices that propel us. Choice theory, which focuses on making better choices and forming sustainable relationships, is the framework through which Krystyn understands her clients and guides them toward their goals. By building a therapeutic alliance in an honest and truthful manner, Krystyn creates an environment where clients feel safe and free to open themselves up. In her free time, Krystyn enjoys spending time with her dogs, family, and friends. She loves the outdoors and, while enjoying walks, hikes of all types, fishing, and camping, also delves into board games and video games. Krystyn has a deep appreciation for expressive modalities such as art and music, as often words alone cannot paint the whole picture.
