James Foster, LISW

Psychotherapist
OH
Hi there, I'm James! I am a clinical social worker who's passionate about helping people feel seen, heard, and understood. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges at your own pace. Whether you are dealing with stress and anxiety, healing from past wounds, sadness, or just feeling stuck, I will work with you with empathy, support, and evidence-based strategies to help you feel more whole, resilient, and empowered. My approach I have an eclectic person-centered approach to providing care, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused, self-compassion, empowerment, and skills training to manage symptoms of anxiety and depression. My focus I work primarily with adults on an individual or group basis. My communication style I prioritize clear, open communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences with you as an empathetic partner. If we’re working through something challenging, you can expect me to be calm and patient. My journey to mental healthcare From a young age, I have always been interested in psychology and helping others. I have served in numerous "helping" roles as a camp counselor, teacher, and mental health counselor. In my graduate studies, I focused primarily on adult mental health and the relationships between individuals and their environments. I have direct experience working with people with anxiety, panic, anger management, and depression. My goals for you I believe that therapy is a partnership. Together, we’ll identify and set goals that matter to you, whether they focus on improving relationships, building self-esteem, or another personal objective. As we work together, your goals may evolve as you gain new insights.
