“I cannot recommend Kyle highly enough. We worked together for the last 1.5 years. I initially went to address some serious anxiety and I have a history of panic attacks. Kyle was always compassionate, understanding and a delight to work with. You will feel no judgement from him. He listens so well and truly helped me learn to push that judgmental voice inside away so I can just be a living, breathing whole person. The amount of gratitude I have for him and his work is unending. If you're nervous about starting therapy, you don't need to be if you're working with him.”

Getting to know Kyle McGarty

Healing and transformation rest on the trust and support of the therapeutic relationship. I prioritize building an authentic connection where you feel safe to be vulnerable without judgment. In a relaxed yet focused style, I bring curiosity, insight, and active collaboration to our work together. I also incorporate awareness of the body, which can help you connect to yourself on a deeper level that talking alone cannot achieve. Working with both the mind and body can lead to more meaningful awareness, symptomatic relief, and transformation. I have over 12 years of experience specializing in concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, LGBTQ issues, adoption, relationship difficulties, sexuality, gender issues, life transitions, and substance use/abuse. My aim is not only to help you heal but also to facilitate self-awareness and a deeper connection to yourself and others. I hold a Master’s in Psychology and a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Insurance: Please note that I work OUT OF NETWORK. I provide an invoice (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance to be reimbursed directly by your insurance company. I am happy to help you navigate your insurance if you need assistance.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I take an active and collaborative approach tailored to your individual needs. There may be days you need to be heard and I mostly listen. At other times I may gently challenge and accompany you to places within yourself that are uncomfortable, but necessary for growth. I invite you to be curious as we get to know the issues that concern you and generate awareness of the deeper issues at play. Our relationship is a safe space for you to experiment with new ways of being, develop more effective coping strategies, and build healthier self-esteem.

Kyle is the first therapist that I have stayed with since my childhood. I have had some therapists in the past but I never really continued seeing them. I have seen Kyle for over a year now because he is very attentive, works very hard to get to know me and then is very effective at helping me come to my own conclusions regarding any issue that is bothering me. He is never intrusive and is very good at helping me realize things about myself that I wasn't even aware of. I highly recommend Kyle. He is incredibly nice, caring, intelligent and a great listener. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with him.

I worked with Kyle for almost two years. He is insightful, professional, understanding, and a great listener. Working with Kyle changed my life. I'd recommend him to anyone.

I was very comfortable talking to Kyle, he listens carefully and makes sure a conclusion is reached by the end of the session. I would definitely recommend him.
I've always had a fear of going to see someone because talking about these things has always been painful. Regularly talking with Kyle has been beneficial with slowly unpacking and sorting the past. He's compassionate, a great listener, and has been able to make precise comments that have helped me come to my own conclusions about why some things are heavy in my head. Working with him has given me a little bit more strength in myself. Highly recommend working with him.

truly recommend working with Kyle. He is very intuitive and attentive, which I have the utmost respect for, given the complexity of my family history. He worked with me to overcome my fears and self doubt by encouraging me to realign myself toward my personal aspirations. I really felt that I had a friend who I could confide in because he genuinely wanted understand and listen. Thank you Kyle!

Kyle is awesome. I've been visiting with him for about 6 months now. The whole idea of therapy made me very nervous, but he eased me into the process and I've made a ton of progress with his help. He's extremely relatable and feels more like a friend than a therapist. Looking forward to working with him for many years to come.
Kyle was there for me during what was easily one of the darkest points in my life. He was there to listen and ask me the right questions, which really helped put me on a path to introspection, and ultimately healing. Kyle's compassionate nature makes him someone who is very easy to talk to, but also a good listener, which is so important on a therapeutic level. He also has a strong respect for the therapeutic process, making you well-aware in your sessions that he's truly there to help. I left Kyle with a newly-rekindled confidence in myself, one that I can keep growing with the tools I learned from him in my sessions. It was a tremendous help to me, and I'm really glad I made the decision to seek it.

Kyle is the best therapist I have ever been to. He has done more for me in the last few sessions than I can accurately describe in this short review. He is a very compassionate and intelligent therapist. Each session, he listens to me and makes simple comments with surgical precision, guiding me to my own conclusions and determinations. I have never felt judged or belittled by him, only empowered. I cannot recommend him enough.

Kyle is one of the most balanced and understanding therapists that I've had the pleasure of seeing. He helped me gain clarity and security during one of the most difficult times in my life. I give him my highest recommendation for anyone seeking support and care.
Kyle is very professional, empathetic and easy to talk to. I feel very comfortable speaking to him and never feel rushed, and find him to be intuitive and knowledgeable. I've also never had to wait longer than 5-10 minutes, to be seen which is great. Overall, I would recommend him to others.
Kyle is a wonderful therapist. He exhibits a caring and gentle manner that allowed me to feel comfortable opening up and sharing with him. He is a very capable, bright and dedicated clinician. I benefited immensely from our sessions together.
Kyle has been fantastic to work with. I came to him at a difficult time in my life and he was incredibly supportive and understanding. Not only did he help me through that time, but he actually helped me learn new things about myself that have improved my life. I highly recommend working with Kyle.
I was very apprehensive about starting therapy as I had never been before, but Kyle put my worries to rest. He is supportive and doesn't make me feel like I am being judged.
