I am a Psychotherapist/Psychoanalyst with a background in Mental Health Nursing. I bring the unique combination of physical and mental health knowledge to my practice with the understanding that there is a crucial connection between mind and body. I have 25 years of clinical experience working with adults and adolescents, individually, and in group and couples therapy. I received a Master's Degree in Mental Health Nursing from Columbia University and completed Psychoanalytic training at the Institute for Expressive Analysis in New York City. I remain active in both the Psychoanalytic and Nursing Communities. I have been very successful in my work with patients who have addictions, physical disabilities, depression and anxiety, exploring inner states and their manifestations which interfere with work, creativity, meaningful relationships and pleasurable pursuits. Many come from home environments that did not support their individuality and unique potential.
I believe that the work of therapy is to create an atmosphere of acceptance and care to enable one to find his/ her voice and the freedom that comes from authenticity and self-expression. I view the psychotherapy process as a work of art created by and influencing both the patient and the analyst.
