My clients can expect an attentive listener who is nonjudgmental and will offer objective insight with humor and honesty. I practice with the belief the client is the expert and through therapeutic collaboration, we can uncover blocks and discover solutions. My purpose is to promote a safe space to heal, strengthen, and reconnect to your deeper values.
I assist individuals and couples to work through a variety of difficulties and have special interest in issues related to disordered eating and body image, anxiety, relational conflict, anger, and grief. I’m interested in helping individuals develop insight to their barriers and work through internal struggles with guilt, worthlessness and shame. I’m also adept at working through conflicts connected to spirituality.
I favor an integrated and direct approach with a psychodynamic foundation that pulls from evidence-based techniques. A psychodynamic approach allows the client to gain insight into why they were engaging in these behaviors in the first place. Cognitive behavioral therapy is helpful in disarming any potentially dangerous or self-destructive behaviors, thoughts or emotions. I also employ techniques from acceptance commitment therapy, internal family systems therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. I have a strength-based stance where the client already has the tools and answers.
