The provider is a “Licensed Social Worker" and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Rivia Mind. *After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ so you can complete required intake forms prior to your appointment* I am a bilingual Licensed Master Social Worker (English and Korean) with a Master of Social Work from Fordham University. I provide both in-person and telehealth therapy to adults in New York, as well as telehealth services to adults in Florida and New Jersey. I have worked in outpatient mental health, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds between the ages of 17 and 65. This experience deepened my understanding of how unique each person's inner world is and the wide range of challenges they may face. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent more than 10 years in the corporate world, where I experienced both the rewards and challenges of having my self-identity closely tied to my career. I specialize in working with clients who struggle with trauma that has been suppressed due to cultural or family dynamics. When emotions are repeatedly pushed aside, they often reappear as burnout, depression, anxiety, or physical (somatic) symptoms in adulthood. Therapy provides a space to recognize and process these feelings, while also reconnecting with core memories that can help heal old wounds. I have experience treating a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. I also specialize in working with clients who have experienced ambiguous loss in childhood, particularly when caregivers reversed roles and placed parental responsibilities on the child (a process known as parentification).

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many people define themselves by their material accomplishments, yet still feel a deep sense of emptiness. I believe mental healthcare can help us reconnect the parts of ourselves that may have drifted apart over time, often leading to anxiety or depression. At times, our wounds may feel too deep or too old to heal. We may also fall into the habit of suppressing our feelings, only to have them resurface in unexpected ways. My goal is to help clients become more attuned to their emotions so they can feel fully connected to all aspects of themselves. I place the highest importance on the therapeutic alliance, working to build a collaborative relationship in which clients are respected as the true experts of their own lives and experiences. I take the time to understand each client’s worldview and goals for treatment before integrating the interventions and modalities best suited to their needs. Outside of my practice, I enjoy unwinding with long walks along the river with my dog, Dooly. The steady flow of the water always brings me a sense of calm. On weekends, you’ll often find me hosting dinner parties for friends or tackling new baking projects.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I approach therapy through a strong cultural lens, seeking to understand the environments and systems that shape each client. Family dynamics and cultural background play a significant role in shaping our worldview, which is why this is the foundation of my collaborative work. From there, I partner with clients to define and prioritize meaningful goals, and together we build skills and strategies to support those goals. In my practice, I integrate a blend of therapeutic approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and trauma-informed care. I tailor interventions based on each client’s preferences and treatment goals, ensuring that the process remains both effective and personally meaningful.
