Maura Maier is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Board Certified Psychiatric Registered Nurse, and a Certified Health Coach. She received her Bachelor's in Nursing from Dominican College and Master's in Counseling from Fordham University.
For the past 20 years she served as a Clinical Psychiatric Nurse, Mental Health Counselor, Educator and Coach in hospitals, clinics and schools. She served people of all ages, with many mental health challenges. Maura has experience working with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, challenging life transitions, low self-esteem, chronic medical conditions, crises, interpersonal and family issues. Her goal is to provide a caring, supportive, non-judgmental environment for clients, inspiring healing. She views counseling as a partnership and believes in individual’s innate capacity to grow and heal.
Her approach is eclectic, grounded, humanistic. She's warm and compassionate, strives to provide a safe space where clients can actualize their capacities to heal. Her eclectic approach utilizes various healing strategies and modes: cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and insight-oriented therapy. She embraces a holistic model of healing that addresses the whole person: body, mind and spirit.
Maura is passionate about her work, committed to her journey of growth, healing and learning. She loves spending time with family and friends. Family dinners, ski trips, and days at the beach are some of her favorite pastimes. She loves being a mom, enjoys?all the wonderful adventures that come with it! Some other passions are holistic healing practices, reading, sustainability, organic/biodynamic farming, community building, meditation, hiking, traveling, skiing and cooking.
