Trish Fehr is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois who has been practicing since 1994. She earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Illinois State University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University. Trish offers patients a safe place to explore how their past is impacting their current choices—a judgment-free journey to examine what is and is not working for them related to coping choices. She provides evidence-based treatment interventions to educate, train, and support patients as they learn healthier ways to manage stress by building awareness of cognitions and emotions that either support or interfere with their goals. Trish and her clients discuss stage of change issues as they evolve their awareness so they can accept themselves and others where they are. Her goal is to assist them in developing an internal locus of control so they can respond rather than react to people, places, and circumstances they encounter. Trish also has a background and training to work with persons struggling with addictions and their families, whether they prefer SMART or Rational Recovery approaches, traditional 12-step approaches, or spirituality-based approaches. She assists those who have experienced negative circumstances or individuals process past pain and question their understanding of God in a safe place where all beliefs and questions are valid. Trish completed training in EMDR to expand her toolkit for those who are triggered by talk therapy and teaches grounding, relaxation, and meditation skills to give them a base on which to navigate a new relationship with themselves and others. Outside of work, Trish enjoys walking, scrapbooking, volunteer opportunities, reading, women’s groups, plays, and concerts.
