Paula Swartz is a compassionate trauma therapist dedicated to helping individuals reclaim their lives after enduring various traumatic events personally or professionally. Paula specializes in supporting women reclaim their strength after experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault as well as supporting first responders through the mental and physical toll their line of work takes.
Paula Swartz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Wisconsin who has been practicing therapy since 2020. She has a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Throughout her career, Paula has worked with adolescents, adults and first responders from diverse backgrounds who have faced various forms of trauma, such as vicarious trauma, secondary trauma, physical or emotional abuse, sexual assault, or interpersonal violence in advocacy roles within the criminal justice system and clinical settings to include residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care.
Paula approaches each of her therapeutic relationships with an unwavering commitment to provide a safe, supportive environment and maintains a firm belief that every person has the capacity to heal to lead a fulfilling life, irrespective of the experiences that they have endured. Paula’s therapeutic style thrives from the belief that the healing foundation begins with a genuine, honest, nonjudgmental human connection. She shows up to each therapeutic relationship with much credence that it is an honor to walk alongside you as you share your experiences with her.
Paula’s therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and Schema Therapy. Paula is fully trained in EMDR therapy and working toward becoming an EMDR Certified Therapist through EMDRIA.
