Hi, I’m Samantha, I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker who is passionate about providing trauma informed care and creating a safe space for client’s to speak freely and work collaboratively to overcome life’s challenges. I work with individuals and couples with a focus on areas including: anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship strengthening.
While I utilized an eclectic approach consisting of various evidence-based practices including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness techniques, I find therapy is most effective when approached as a collaborative process that involves an appreciation of each client’s unique strengths and challenges. I seek to establish a compassionate and authentic therapeutic alliance that involves attunement to each client’s needs, vulnerabilities, and capacities. I work to support clients in getting 'unstuck' from emotional, cognitive, and behavior barriers to clear pathways for internal and external growth. I believe it is important to understand the stories we tell ourselves and how these stories contribute to difficult emotions and self-limiting behaviors and promote an enhanced connection to self and the world.
As a couple's therapist, I work to support couples in uncovering impasses in their communication and undo destructive behaviors by creating space for vulnerabilities. I believe the goal of couple's work is to establish patterns of relating in which couples can hear each other's feelings and needs, and relate to each other in emotionally responsive ways.
