I believe the most important ingredient for effective therapy is a solid relationship between client and therapist. Because every client is different, every therapeutic relationship is also different. We’ll co-create it together and redesign it as needed along the way. You will always be the expert on you, and I will honor that fully. My style of therapy is 100% consent-based. You have choice every step of the way – the choice to attend the session, the choice to engage in discussion or any activity, and the choice to take (or leave) anything from therapy into your day-to-day life. I have a very thorough toolbox of evidenced-based interventions and strategies to support you when needed, and I have full confidence in the power of the therapeutic relationship to guide us along this journey.
I take a whole-person perspective because it’s all connected! The mind / thoughts, the emotions and physical sensations, the behaviors, the physical body, the spirit, and our identities (race, gender, sexual orientation, class, health status, etc.) are all connected within us and also interact with the environment, the culture we live within, the relationships we participate in, and the impact of the past. We can explore it all!
I graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2013, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addictions Counselor in Colorado.
Evidenced-Based Modalities that I’m trained in: EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (for clients under 18 and their family), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, Play Therapy.
I also enjoy creative interventions such as using play, art, music, and movement.
