Hi there, I'm Selina!
My name is Selina Marie Galvan and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My focus as a therapist is to empower my clients to feel in control of their lives and have the self-confidence to make positive life changes.
My approach
As a therapist each relationship I start with a client person-centered. I am a very client-focused therapist, in that I want my clients to feel comfortable, safe, and understood. My first step is building a trusting relationship with my clients. The theoretical approaches I use in my practice are CBT, narrative, and family systems.
My focus
I have experience and feel confident in working with teens and adolescents. I work with conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral and mood disorders. Working with youth, I also am comfortable and have experience working with families. I also have experience working with adults with many various disorders as well, including anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral and mood disorders, including substance abuse.
My communication style
My goal is to always create a safe, trusting, and comfortable environment in my sessions. Working with me you feel supported, understood, and empathized with. I strive to help my clients become the best version of themselves, a version they love and believe in.
My journey to therapy
I am passionate about the work I do and lead my work with compassion and optimism. In choosing a career, I always wanted to do something in life where I knew I was giving back and making a positive influence in the world. I am eager to help individuals improve their mental health to live in the present and to their full potential.
My goals for you
I work collaboratively with my clients in creating goals and helping guide them with kindness and compassion. Working with families my goal is to improve communication and foster healthy relationships within the family system.
