Before pursuing a career in professional counseling, I worked as a case manager and advocate serving teenage mothers, under-employed young adults and families in crisis for 10 years. I also served as a counselor at The Baraka School, a Kenyan boarding school serving middle school boys from Baltimore City. As a licensed professional counselor, I worked with Traci Berry McGhee for 15 years in private practice in St. Louis, MO and at Imani Therapy, a wellness center for women and girls. There, I provided counseling, would speak at school engagements, and facilitate SistaKeeper Circles and groups, retreats and workshops. The mission was to encourage young women to find their purpose and encompassed Prevention, Intervention and Awareness, focused on the issues that impact women and their communities.
I have experience and provide individual and family treatment for issues including marriage relationships, self-esteem, identity issues, life-transitions, depression, anxiety, and parent-teen relationships. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other therapeutic techniques and strongly believes in the concept of ‘ubuntu’ – I am who I am because of who we are. I strive to provide a supportive and trusting environment for each person to make decisions, problem solve and move forward toward professional and personal goals.
