Stephanie received her Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Psychology and Criminal Justice from UNC Charlotte and Master of Arts/Education Specialist degree in Mental Health Counseling from Gardner-Webb University. She was an active member of GWU’s Gamma Alpha Omega chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, international honor society for professional counselors. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and has obtained Board Certification through the National Board of Certified Counselors.
Stephanie’s graduate level internships provided her with experience in outpatient behavioral health and university counseling. Postgraduate clinical experience includes providing enhanced services as an Intensive In-Home counselor and working as an outpatient clinician with additional experience providing school-based behavioral health services. She has also worked in a residential level III group home for adolescents. Stephanie’s experience includes counseling individuals and families in need of mental health services to address a variety of concerns related to social, emotional, or behavioral disturbances, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, stress and/or life changes.
She approaches the counseling relationship with a genuine intent to understand individual needs as she collaborates with clients to generate goals for life changes. She views therapy as an opportunity for people to learn more about themselves and their role within the context of relationships. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques/interventions as she encourages clients to be an active participant in their development and growth throughout the process of change.
