Sarah Peterson, LISW

Psychotherapist
OH
Hi there, I'm Sarah! I am a licensed, independent social worker with a Master?s in Social Work from Campbellsville University. I also hold certifications and specialized training in couples therapy (Gottman), perinatal care, EMDR, early childhood, and infant mental health. I take an individualized approach, listening to and understanding your situation not only as an individual but also through the lens of your environment. I then move into a problem-solving approach through effective assessment and analysis. We are all unique, so I do not take a "one-size-fits-all" approach. My approach I typically utilize CBT, strengths-based, and goal-oriented models based on client need. My focus I have experience with high-risk or intense trauma areas, including child abuse, child sexual abuse, and domestic violence. I work with families, couples, and individuals with various needs and diagnoses. My communication style I take a laid-back approach, talking to you like a friend or fellow human rather than someone above you. I believe this is a partnership. I can teach new skills and help confront negative thinking patterns compassionately. My journey to mental healthcare I knew from a young age I would become a therapist. This was solidified as I faced my own trials through childhood and young adulthood. Learning to help myself during vulnerable times fueled my desire to help others. My goal is to encourage you to see the light at the end of the tunnel?it will be YOUR way, not someone else?s. We will work together to defeat societal expectations and take charge of your future. My goals for you I thrive on taking time to understand each client?s needs, strengths, and values before goal setting. My first session with you We will review policies and procedures.
