Taylor Nance, LMFT

Psychotherapist
PA
Grief, loss, and life transitions are at the heart of my work as a therapist. I specialize in supporting clients through life-altering experiences—whether the pain of a devastating loss or the quieter, often overlooked forms of grief society tends to ignore. When life takes an unexpected turn, such as an "out-of-order" death, illness, infertility, or tragic accidents, it can leave you feeling unmoored and uncertain how to move forward. These experiences disrupt your sense of safety and identity profoundly. After such losses, you’re not expected to "return to normal"—because life may never feel quite the same. In therapy, we’ll create a compassionate space to honor your grief and help you rebuild a new sense of self and stability, allowing you to move forward in a way true to where you are now. The grief of distancing yourself from family, particularly as an adult child, can be complex and deeply painful. Choosing to step away due to unresolved trauma, broken boundaries, or attachment wounds often brings a profound sense of loss—even when necessary for your well-being. The weight of estrangement can stir guilt, sorrow, and confusion, leaving you mourning not just the relationship as it was but also the family connection you longed for but never truly had. This grief is quiet and often misunderstood, as society doesn’t always recognize the heartbreak that comes with protecting yourself from those you’re expected to be closest to. In therapy, we’ll hold space for the grief from walking away, honoring the difficulty of choosing distance while tending to the wounds that led you there. When appropriate, we can explore family sessions to work toward repair or process past hurts in a safe, supportive environment. Together, we’ll work through the pain of loss, exploring how to heal from the rupture while reclaiming your sense of self.. What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note that I am not in network with insurance. I am an out of network provider, but I maintain a few low fee spots and can provide clients with super-bills for the possibility of getting reimbursed. I specialize in supporting people who are navigating various forms of grief, including more hidden kinds of grief like estrangement, infertility, divorce, betrayal, and more. Additionally, I have extensive experience helping clients recover from the devastating impact of people-pleasing on their relationship with themselves and others.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I utilizes an integrative treatment style that fits the unique needs of each client. My systemic training helps me to understand the intergenerational family dynamics that often contribute to, and influence, presenting concerns. I deliver culturally competent and socially just care through identifying and addressing the traumatic impact that systemic oppression has on one's mental health.
