Hi there, I'm Vanessa!
My name is Vanessa, and I am a California-based Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am a client centered, strengths-based, and solutions focused therapist that strives to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel free of judgment. The focuses of my practice are; interpersonal challenges, life transitions, and relationships. Whether you are becoming a new parent, facing challenges in the workplace, or in an unfulfilling “situationship”, we can work together to learn to manage the gray areas of life.
My approach
I am a true believer that we are the experts in our own lives. I facilitate deeper reflection into patterns of behaviors and thoughts that lead to unfulfilling relationships. I use a blend of Attachment Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy techniques to deliver a strengths-based, tailored approach to foster your intuition or “gut feeling”. It is the "gut feeling" that informs our mind, body, and heart as to what is "right" for us as individuals and is the guide that stays with us long after therapy is over.
My focus
I work with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, peer/interpersonal relationship conflicts, life transitions, low self-esteem, burnout, and stress management. My approach is to integrate evidence-based practice and theory while honoring your individual needs and meeting you where you are at.
My communication style
My style can be described as casual, candid, and goal driven. I come to every session prepared with thoughts and reflections on the previous session and expect the same from my client. I gently challenge clients to identify realistic solutions while helping answer the questions, “Why am I the way that I am? What can I do about it?” Think of me as a GPS guide – you are in the driver’s seat, completely in control of the course of treatment and I am in the passenger seat, cheering you along.
