“My entire experience with Lotus Healing and Wellness has been peaceful, from my first meeting with Xiya to driving and parking there. Lotus is located on a plot of land with plenty of trees around it, making it very simple to locate the property! The waiting area is very cozy. A Bose speaker plays soft jazz music that helped soothe my nerves when I was there for the first time. The waiting area also has refrigerated beverages, such as bottled water and flavored sparkling water. One thing I would recommend is placing some restroom location signage for the patients. It would help save the patients from having to ask the staff where it is, making the space feel more comfortable for us patients as guests/customers with Lotus. ”

Getting to know Xiya Akande-Williams

Welcome. Reaching out for help is a brave first step, and I’m here to meet you where you're at with compassion and respect. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, you don’t have to face it alone. I work with adults of all ages, but I have a special passion for adolescents and children. My approach is collaborative and grounded in empathy. I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences at a comfortable pace. Together, we’ll uncover patterns, build coping tools, and work toward healing and meaningful change. My goal is to walk beside you with kindness, curiosity, and care, and to help you reconnect with your inner wisdom and resilience. We will collaborate on your needs and interests to create goals that help you achieve your best self! If you’re carrying the weight of being a human, whether you are BIPOC, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, or someone who is simply trying to make it through the day, you don’t have to carry it alone. Healing is not only possible, it’s your right. As a therapist who honors the lived experiences of others, I hold space for your truth with compassion and care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means stepping into a space that is professional, compassionate, and grounded in genuine connection. She meets clients exactly where they are, with no expectation of how therapy “should” look or feel. I believe that every person’s story is unique, and her approach centers on open communication, active listening, and collaboration. During your first session, I take time to get to know you — to hear your story, understand your concerns, and explore what you’re hoping to gain from therapy. Together, you’ll set intentions for the process and create a plan that feels both supportive and empowering. With me you can come as you are. I provide a healthy, safe space where growth, healing, and understanding unfold at your own pace. Booking an appointment through Zocdoc requires completion of intake paperwork and informed consent sent via email.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical process when working together begins with weekly sessions to help build momentum and trust. Each session lasts about 52 minutes, allowing time to explore your goals, emotions, and experiences at a comfortable pace. In these early sessions, we’ll discuss what you’d like to focus on and begin creating a plan that feels right for you. Some of the common areas I support clients with include developing self-care practices, increasing emotional awareness through psychoeducation, and learning regulation tools such as mindful breathing, grounding, and other healthy coping skills. Over time, as progress is made and stability increases, we can adjust the frequency of sessions to match your needs and comfort level.

I was unsure about what to expect during my sessions, but the outcome of my time has been great. I have been enjoying my time with Xiaya, and does a great job in what she does. Their office is welcoming and are flexible with session through zoom which work for my schedule.
I came to my therapist in a time of need & her professionalism and unwavering support have been nothing short of amazing. Since starting our work together in late July,I have learned and grown so much. She’s an excellent listener, constantly follows up with our session and goes the extra mile even sending thoughtful texts with little things that truly make a difference in my day-to-day life!
