Emily Cooper

I am a 20 year old girl living with MDD, Anxiety, PTSD, and Chronic pain along with disordered eating due to allergies. Recently after making the decision to take a step away from smoking pot and ignoring my problems, I discovered Emily here on ZocDoc. I have been making many life changes that have been helping me mentally but was still having such trouble with my physical pain. My first appointment with Emily was nothing that I had ever expected. she called me a couple of days beforehand to make sure I was aware of the upcoming appointment and to see if I had any questions or concerns regarding the practice of acupuncture! Already off to a good start, and when I first arrived at her office I was welcomed with a crazy cool wall of herbs and spices, giving the air a wonderful smell. When she first brought me back we had an almost therapy like season in which I described not only the history of my physical pain but also my mental pain. Honestly, I was not expecting the needles to help me much, and was a bit nervous. She made sure I was comfortable with the temperature and explained what she was doing with the needles. They were packaged sterile tiny long needles, and she only put about 5 in. At first my mind was racing but as I took deep breaths and relaxed, I felt my body and mind reach a point of relaxation that I had never before. After about 15 mins she came back in, took out the needles and we talked about my first acupuncture experience. She also let me schedule in my next appointments for the next month, which was super helpful. Now although it was a great experience, I was not expecting the way I felt for the next few days following. My body was so relaxed, and even when in a very intense argument I was able to calm myself down so quickly, and realized my my body wasn't tense! Emily Cooper is a very gentle, warm and welcoming acupuncturist. She explains what will be done, and really takes the time to understand your problems, mentally and physically. She is also very easy to talk to, and always asks throughout the session how you are going. I would 100% recommend to anyone, with chronic/mental illness or even just stressed out!
