About Dr. Douglas Palaganas
We have built our practice around a unique vision. In today's economy, many orthodontic practices in our area have shifted their focus more toward the “business” of orthodontics rather than the “practice” itself. Dr. Doug believes that the foundation of a truly successful practice must be centered on the patient.
Our focus is not only on personalized, state-of-the-art orthodontic care but also on providing a top-notch patient and family experience. This experience depends on Dr. Doug taking the time to get to know his patients and their families, allowing him to deliver appropriate, individualized care. We want our patients to feel like part of our family. This is not an “assembly-line” practice where you see the assistants more than the doctor.
While Dr. Doug embraces cutting-edge diagnostics and treatment-utilizing the lowest dose digital x-rays, no-radiation digital models, and the most up-to-date treatment options-he believes it is even more important to be readily available to all his patients at every visit to discuss progress and answer any questions from patients and parents. We strive to “be the best” for our patients because Dr. Doug believes that if we succeed in all these areas, our patients will not only refer others to us but become our biggest fans, eagerly sharing their positive experiences with friends and family.
Dr. Doug earned his Bachelor's degree from Cornell University, completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, and pursued a Residency in Orthodontics at the same institution. Our practice was established with the belief that by staying committed to this vision, the “business” of growing our practice will largely take care of itself, allowing us to focus our time and efforts on our amazing patients and their care.

I've been searching for an orthodontist for my son for quite some time. When you realize the time and fees you are about to invest, you definitely want to shop around and see what's around. When I first met Dr. Doug, I was impressed by how he explained the treatment process. At this level, I'm assuming most doctors are fairly knowledgeable at what they do. What IS different is how they explain things and how much time they take with you. It may just be me, but I think how they address you is a good reflection on how they're going to be treating your child.
Anyway, my son and I are very happy we decided to go with him for treatment. Unlike a lot of the practices we visited in the area, he truly spent time with my son and didn't shuffle him around from one assistant to another. Thank you for all your help. And to top it all off, he's a diehard Yankee fan!

Even though I was not sure if I would do the procedure or not, the doctor was very patient with me and explained all my options very well and made me feel like he was really there to help. I would recommend them to anyone that asks.

He fully explains treatment options, payments plans & appointment availibity that accodatc whats best for you. I would recommend him to anyone who wants an orthodontist who know what the're doing!

Dr. Doug is very professional and very informative at the visit when it comes to your braces. He's also very understanding and very friendly individual. If I would ever recommend anyone for braces I would send them to him. You definitely won't regret it!!

I love Dr. Doug! I was so nervous about my appointment but he was so gentle and kept making me laugh! He explained everything he was doing and took pictures of my teeth. He showed me what a lingual holding arch is tried some bands on my teeth... it didn't hurt at all! Dr. Doug is the best!

Dr. Doug is one of the best doctor's I have been to. He takes his time and explains everything he is doing so you are always informed. He makes communicating with the office a breeze because he is always available by email as well as phone. His staff is always helpful and smiling. He for sure makes the experience nice and easy.

Dr. Doug makes it his priority to give his patient's the best care possible. The times that I have gone to him, I haven't been in the waiting room for long, and my appointment have not felt rushed at all. He sits with you and explains everything step by step. If you have any questions or concerns he is very easy to reach. When he is not in his office you can email him and get a response within hours. I also appreciate the one on one care he offers to his patients.
