About Dr. Ingrid Schwarz
Dr. Schwarz grew up in Deerfield, Illinois, the daughter of Dr. Joseph J. Schwarz, the founding dentist of this practice. She spent her early years assisting her dad at the office and realized she shared the family passion for dentistry. Dr. Schwarz attended the University of Iowa, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1988. After practicing dental hygiene for two years, she returned to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1994. She believes prevention is the key to a healthy smile.
Dr. Schwarz lives in Munster, Indiana, with her husband Paul, who practices oral surgery in Northwest Indiana. They have four children—Henry, Frank, Hazel, and Louis—who have all attended or are attending Big Ten universities. Her weekends often involve traveling to these college towns for football games, moms weekends, and alumni events. Dr. Schwarz also dedicates time to community service. She won a seat on the Munster School Board in 2016 and is currently serving her second four-year term. Additionally, she serves on the University of Iowa College of Dentistry Alumni Board and the Munster Medical Research Foundation. When not working and volunteering, Dr. Schwarz enjoys tennis, pickleball, walking her dog Piper, and cooking. She is always up for trying new recipes, so feel free to send her your favorites!
