James Altomare, DDS, is a graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry where he was elected member of the National Dental Honor Society - Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Following graduation, he was chosen to participate in a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, New York Harbor Healthcare Systems, New York Campus. There, Dr. Altomare provided thorough dental treatment for veterans who had served on the United States Military.
Dr. Altomare has continued his post-graduate education in order to provide state-of-the-art, comprehensive, and caring dentistry to his patients. You can rest assured that you'll receive the personalized attention you deserve. As your dentist I'll listen to your needs and answer all your questions. Plus, you'll enjoy our friendly, caring team.
During treatment you can relax with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) in our pleasant, comfortable treatment rooms. You'll enjoy being treated with the most advanced techniques, the best materials, and a soft touch.

I would recommend this Dentist for your dental needs. In general, i want to stay away from any procedures unless it is mandatory. The doctor to my liking recommended only the must-have procedure.

Very clean waiting area and restroom, kind and funny staff. Wait times are fairly short. Dr. Altomare is very nice, listens to the patient and then discusses a game plan. He is very thorough as well. Also makes good recommendations for oral surgeons.

Since I needed a cleaning during the Covid-19 pandemic, I really appreciated the office's attention to cleanliness and social distancing. I was the only patient in the office and the dentist did the cleaning himself and wore multiple masks and a face shield. Dr. Altomare listened to my dental history and was very understanding and non-judgmental. I'm actually looking forward to future visits!

I had very high expectations due to positive reviews, but would not go back. I have very sensitive teeth but they never bled that much. This time my mouth was full of blood after the cleaning and now everything hurts inside the mouth. The cleaning itself was thorough but painful (although my teeth were in a decent condition as i cleaned them 8 months ago). I never had this problem in the past with my old dentist. Since it was pretty painful and traumatic, i doubt that i will go back.
Other than that, everything was good. The staff was friendly.

Great bedside manner and competency. I was nervous about having a dental cleaning after a long time without one, but Dr. Altomare and his staff made the experience great. Dr. Altomare did the cleaning himself and was honest about my oral health - I expected to need work after not having many cleanings, but he found my teeth to be great. His hygienist/assistant was very patient in taking the x-rays and was careful in making sure she got good pictures. The front desk admin, Dawn, followed up with me after I made the appointment to get additional information and was very nice in person.

Dr. Altomare is very thorough, knows his stuff and explains things very simply. Did my cleaning himself. X-ray tech Sarah was great, she took care to make it quick and painless. Everyone was so nice, conversational and welcoming, especially the receptionist Donna. She called me before the appointment to confirm and get insurance info, explained pricing to me afterwards, and scheduled my next appointment. Overall a good experience.

This place is great! When I walked I today, they were short-staffed and were dealing with a phone and internet outage. They still had me in the chair, x-rayed and taken care of in a very timely manner. I love these guys!

He was absolutely stunning!!! My teeth are perfectly clean with hardly any pain or discomfort. He is extremely thorough yet gentle. Dr. James is amazing at understanding the nuisance of cleaning tar and plaque off the front teeth and how unnerving it can be for patients. I would highly recommend him, and I’m even excited for my next appointment. The staff is also wonderfully friendly and a complete joy to be around. See you all in 6 months!
