I am not an anxious person but I do find dentist appointments stressful. The entire staff made me feel comfortable even though I did not disclose this before my appointment. About Dr. John Ashton Vellequette
Dr. Vellequette, a Los Altos native, attended St. Francis High School in Mountain View. He completed his Doctorate in Dental Surgery degree at the University of Buffalo, NY Dental School with a minor in Periodontics. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), and received his Mastership award (MAGD) summer 2001.
In addition to clinical instructing in cosmetic dentistry, he attends approximately 200 hours of continuing education per year.
Dr. Vellequette's continuing education has included Orthodontics, TMD/TMJ clinic, Dental Implants, IV Sedation Certification, Cosmetic and Aesthetic dentistry programs and numerous other general and cosmetic dental courses.
He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI), the Cranio Mandibular Institute (CMI), the Academy of GP Orthodontics, and has participated in the CDA and ADA on legislative committees and as an alternate delegate.
Dr. Vellequette received The Academy of General Dentistry's prestigious Mastership Award on August 4, 2001 in New York. In attaining Mastership in the AGD, Dr. Vellequette has joined a select group of dentists who have completed the most rigorous continuing dental education program in general dentistry. Dr. Vellequette earned the Mastership Award by completing more than 1,100 hours of quality continuing dental education in the 16 disciplines of dentistry, including 400 hours of hands-on courses. To date, only 1,000 AGD members have earned Mastership honors and less than 6% of these dentist are providing care in California.

Would never return to this office. I had to re review while I was there to begin with. Once that was established I was given local injections to numb my mouth. Then they left. It wasn’t until maybe 30-40 minutes later I wondered what was going on. After I was at the office 1 hour and my mouth was no longer numb I sat up and flagged someone down. They had forgotten I was there, at least in my opinion and would have to reinject me if I was going to get the work completed that day. I was coming out of the restroom after cleaning my hands when an assistant or someone said if you wait 5 more minutes the doctor can see you. I have never had a dentist inject me, the staff then leave and waited so long my mouth was no longer numb. Just an unheard of set of circumstances from a dentist would was obviously well established.

I had a good experience at dentist office today. The office was clean and cozy. Staff was friendly and helpful. I was seen on time for my appointment. Doctor did make an appearance after my cleaning and was great at communicating with findings during my visit. Staff was also helpful to give me a quick estimate for my next procedure. ?

The office was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly. They were very thorough in the exam (more so than I’ve ever experienced), and Dr. Ashton took the time to show me the images of my teeth and talk through his recommendations with me. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Dr. Vellequette is the best dentist I've ever had. He's been my dentist for about a year and a half. He's super knowledgeable and it feels like he's seen every situation before and knows how to navigate them. Extremely easy to talk to and the office staff is very nice. I drive from the East Bay to see him which is about a 40 minute commute each way, but still worth it.

He was very professional, open, and welcoming. He didn't hesitate to just come sit next to me in the waiting room and say hey. He looked over my teeth, told me I seemed like a good candidate for Invisalign, and then we went and did the requisite steps (making molds of my teeth, X-rays, etc.) Some of the mold gel slipped and ended up in my hair (my fault; I gagged on the mold), and he didn't hesitate to work it out with a hot towel for me. The visit was pleasant from start to finish, and his assistants were also very nice.

Dr & staff was excellent. Only thing that caused me some heartburn was the fact that from start to finish on xrays took almost 1 hour. I guess she was new and didn't know how to do oral xrays.
