About Dr. Luiz Barbosa
Meet the Doctor!
Alex Barbosa, DDS, MS
Dr. Alex Barbosa was born and raised in Brasilia, Brazil and came to the US in 2009 for his Orthodontic Residency. In 2012, he earned his Master’s degree and specialty certification from the renowned Center for Advanced Dental Education at Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, Missouri. During his time there, Dr. Barbosa also completed a Fellowship in treatment of Cleft Lip and Palate at the famous Saint Louis Children's Hospital. His thesis about "Growth and Development" was published in one of the most important publications in Orthodontics worldwide, the American Journal of Orthodontics (AJODO).
He became a double certified specialist in Orthodontics, having also previously completed his training in one of the most prestigious programs in Brazil, at UNESP. This broad experience over the years expanded his view as an orthodontist, enabling the use of different techniques to treat even the most challenging surgical and non-surgical cases with greater efficiency.
Dr. Barbosa is passionate about changing smiles and loves interacting with his patients and learning about their life experiences. Besides being an accomplished clinician, he is also an educator, and devotes time teaching Orthodontics to the University of Florida residents at the UF Hialeah Dental Center. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Barbosa lives in Boca Raton and loves spending time with his family. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Liliane, and they have two beautiful daughters, Isabela and Giovana. His other passions include the piano, soccer, hiking, running, traveling, being involved in his church and charity work.
