“Dr Mattie is a lovely man. His office reminds me of an old school dentist, I think it was an office on the side of his house. There was no dental hygienist and Dr Mattie did the whole exam. It was very low key and I was in and out under an hour. ”

Last minute appointment 2 days before Christmas (visitor from overseas). Doc was very friendly and efficient. Wonderful experience throughout!
I would absolutely not recommend this practice. The dentist did the cleaning, and there was no hygienist present. The tools to do the cleaning were loose in a drawer with other objects, rather than in sterile packets as I’ve seen at every other practice. He wiped the tiny mirror off on a paper towel before inserting it in my mouth. He never laid back the chair, so I was upright for the entire “cleaning” which was unsatisfactory and felt incomplete. He likened teeth to a boat, and said I might be aware of boats if I had a “brother or a father” (as if women don’t have boats? odd). He asked me the exact same set of questions twice, incredibly slowly. The gauze he grabbed to examine my tongue came from an old, yellowing box. The entire experience did not feel sanitary. I am frankly shocked at how many positive reviews this practice has! At the end of the visit they requested an exorbitantly high copay, despite them accepting my insurance. Everything about this was awful. Don’t go.

Dr. Mattie and his team made the entire visit perfectly seamless. They walked me through every step and procedure with patience, care, intention, and expertise. I left the first appointment relieved to have finally found a dentist I trust.
Great experience! Super professional and through. He explained everything he was doing and why. Very reasonable price for someone without insurance.
Great experience overall!
Very knowledgeable, kind and attentive to detail. He answered all my questions, was very fast with my cleaning and explained very thoroughly how the status of my teeth were. I will definitely be going back in the future and will definitely recommend

Dr. Mattie is a competent dentist. I do not recommend going here if you are a person of color. Dr. Mattie’s exposure to different people seems low and I was asked quite a few uncomfortable questions, including being told “my English is very good” and having his guess my race as Indian “because I look like it.” I am Indian and was born in the US (fluent English speaker) and told Dr. Mattie these things to try to stop the line of discussion. The whole experience was upsetting and unprofessional. While I came away with my teeth cleaned, I will not go back.
I had a great appointment with Doctor Mattie. He took me on as a new patient and got me in for an appointment very quickly. Extremely nice person and great conversation the entire visit. This was the first appointment I have ever had where the dentist himself actually cleaned my teeth (rather than a hygienist doing all the cleaning and then only briefly being examined by the dentist). With Doctor Mattie I had his full attention the entire time I was in his office. He showed me my X-rays and walked me through his interpretation of them. He was very gentle with my mouth and I was at no point being uncomfortably probed by instruments. He was happy to answer any and all questions I had and give guidance on best practices for my own self dental care. Doctor Mattie is clearly very experienced, knowledgeable and kind and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist in the area!
This dental cleaning and exam was very non-thorough, it took about 25 minutes total when I am used to 45 minutes of thorough cleaning. The tools are also very out-dated and a lot of rust on some tools around the room. I am just very frustrated this is even being billed to my insurance because I feel as though I need to go to another dentist to be further examined. He did not ask me about my concerns or goals for the visit, unfortunately. Dr. Mattie was kind but just not the visit I had hoped for.
I don’t have enough good things to say about Dr. Mattie. I was a new patient in his practice today. This was my first dental appointment after a dreaded 10 years due to a considerable fear/phobia of the dentist. A few minutes into my appointment, I nearly forgot I had this excessive fear. I could have practically fallen asleep in his chair. He exudes a calmness and relatedness. Is incredibly kind, understanding, and patient. I booked my follow up appointments without second thought. I’m so happy I found him!

Quick, efficient, and very friendly!
I usually hate going to the dentist. Dental hygienists are often super aggressive and condescending and it’s a terrible experience. I hadn’t been in awhile and was putting it off out of fear. Finding Dr. Mattie was exactly what I needed! He was so wonderful, kind, gentle and understanding. He did the cleaning himself so I had the opportunity to address concerns right away and he was very thoughtful in answering my questions. Would 100% recommend to anyone worried about getting back to the dentist—he will take care of you.

Dr. Michael Mattie is an amiable guy. I'm glad I found him on Zocdoc. He is a great listener and really took the time to know me and build that friendly relationship. I also enjoy the fact that Dr. Mattie encourages his patients by giving them tips and pointers for improving their teeth health. I would recommend Dr. Mattie to anyone looking for a private dentist.
