My dentist was good. She gave me enough guidance to take control of my dental health.
My least favorite part of dentist visits is the x-rays. The cameras are painful in the mouth. This place took lots of x-rays. There were atleast 10, I think. The radiation is obviously not good. Next time I will ask to take less.
Unique thing about this office - they checked on the insurance and gave a very detailed breakdown of the treatment costs. This is much appreciated!”

About Dr. Norman Yung
Dr. Norman Yung is the senior dentist at Franklin Dental Care. He was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and moved to Hong Kong to attend high school before returning to Vancouver, Canada to complete his Pharmacy degree in 1988. Wanting something more hands-on, he moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He excelled in his studies and was one of 4 students chosen from the class of over 130 to do his clinical training at the prestigious and more rigorous faculty practice facility instead of the main clinic. He completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree in 1992.
He then moved to Los Angeles to complete his General Practice Residency at the University of Southern California in 1993. In 1996, the lure of the fog and the region’s reputation for tolerance and acceptance for diversity brought him to the San Francisco / Oakland Bay Area where he now lives with his wife and two teenage children.
Dr. Norman Yung has been in private practice for over 33 years and has honed his art to the point where his patients are cared for with confidence, compassion, and precision. His philosophy is to be proactive and ideal. He practices no-compromise dentistry. There is only one way to do dentistry, and that is the Right Way. He is especially proactive in dealing with gum disease, the painless disease that destroys the foundations that support the teeth. He believes open communication is critical to a good relationship with his patients so he will patiently explain in understandable terms what the issues are, and how he intends to proactively re-establish health. Communication is always a two-way street, so he welcomes any and all questions.

Wonderful staff and well-run, efficient office. My visits are always on time, work is done quickly and completely and procedures and questions are answered in a way that I understand the process and what to expect afterwards.

I've been to good dentists and horrible dentists, so I'm always nervous when I go to a new practice for the first time. Dr. Yung was so amazing and I'm so relieved. He was kind and thorough and I wish I had switched to him sooner! I tend to have some anxiety at the dentist and he really made me feel at ease.

Dr. Yung and his staff quickly set up an emergency appointment for me at the earliest available time and saw me immediately upon arrival. His staff are amazing and helpful, from check-in, to billing, to the dental assistants.
I felt safe thanks to the precautions they took to avoid coronavirus transmission, including everyone wearing masks, gloves, cleaning of equipment, etc.
Dr. Yung is always friendly, personable, and professional. He tries to remember his clients and provides excellent service. His staff is great and make the visit comfortable, especially given the current circumstances.

After dinner that evening, I took a sticky candy and threw it in my mount, sat on sofa, watched TV.
Suddenly I found out the candy in my mouth seemed to contain sand or stones. I spit it in my hand strangely, it turned out that was a dental crown from one of my big tooth. It had been treated with the root canal long time ago, now was loosened and stuck together by the sticky candy.
I was scar and worried, because it was time to stay home for epidemic prevention, and many clinics were closed. Anyway, I called my dentist Norman, he said that it was necessary to go to his office next morning. Next day, within half hour after checking everything, he fixed that problem for me.
Before leaving, he joked that if it lose again, don't swallow it. And the staff said I was lucky that they only served emergency cases that day. I am so glad and thankful to Norman, he is a caring dentist.

I have been visiting Dr Yung for several years now. He and his entire staff all perform excellent work. He also demonstrates a strong commitment to ensuring that his patients are satisfied . I cannot think of a single way in which I could have been happier with my experience. Even if I were to move away from the area, I will return to Oakland to continue seeing Dr Yung. He's that good.

Having a tooth extracted, he had to shoot up my jaw with pain killing meds...with a syringe ...that’s a big needle ..God help me..but I hardly noticed it...no pain. That has never happened before….always the big fear with dentists is the needle...not with him. Five stars, no ten stars with this guy

I ask a lot of questions, and want to know how I'm doing with oral hygiene, and want to know what's happening in my mouth. Dr. Yung is super informative, answers all my questions, and is a funny, genial dentist. EVERY person who works at this office is a pleasure to interact with actually.
