About Dr. Raj Desai

Dr. Raj Desai grew up in Edison, New Jersey, the famed birthplace of the light bulb. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from New York University in 2014, graduating with honors. He went on to complete his dental training at Columbia University and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2018. After dental school, Dr. Desai headed to the west coast and completed a General Practice Residency at the San Diego Veterans Affairs Hospital. Finishing his academic career, Dr. Desai ventured to the midwest and earned his specialty certificate in Orthodontics, as well as a Master’s degree in Oral Sciences from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2022. Dr. Desai graduated with multiple distinctions, being awarded the Department of Orthodontics Scholarship and the Dr. Kalpesh and Ami Shah Scholarship in recognition of his dedication to the orthodontic specialty and commitment to his patients. Dr. Desai’s published dissertation evaluated the airway in obstructive sleep apnea utilizing 3-D engineered computer simulations. At Orthodontic Experts, Dr. Desai’s extensive background and training allow him to provide the highest level of orthodontic treatment while maintaining an environment that ensures a comfortable and efficient visit every time. Outside the Office Dr. Desai has a number of interests, which include visiting museums, viewing films, and watching sports like basketball and tennis. In his free time, he prioritizes being with family and friends. Treatment philosophy “My orthodontic mission is to provide outstanding, patient-driven care in a community-based setting that embodies the highest ideal of service where our patients and their families feel comfortable.”
