About Dr. Ronald Cooper

Dr. Ronald Cooper began his interest in dentistry in high school as part of an externship program which involved visiting with and learning from a local dentist. After that experience, he began volunteering and assisting dentists through college. Dentistry was a career path that seemed to match his natural inclination for fixing things. And today, when he's not fixing smiles, he's often fixing up his home in Potomac. Dr. Cooper grew up in Long Island and finished high school in Maryland. He went on to acquire his DDS, with honors, from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1988. From there Dr. Cooper continued his dental education with advanced training in post-graduate general dentistry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. While there, he served the community by volunteering time to those in need in Grady Hospital Dr. Cooper's dental education continued with the acceptance of the Fellowship award in General Dentistry in 1997. He then became more focused on preserving teeth while at the same time improving smiles. Dr. Cooper is a member of several national and local professional associations including the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the DC Dental Society. Along with home renovations and home automation, Dr. Cooper enjoys woodworking and spending time with his family. He and his wife Lesley, an attorney, have three children.

Lots of hidden charges, combative and unresponsive to questions. Multiple attempts at "up-selling" me on cosmetic procedures.
Great guy. Explained everything I needed done after looking at my teeth for 5 minutes, and was friendly while explaining it
I've been seeing Dr. Cooper for over 20 years. Would never want anyone else. Professional, friendly staff and hygienists.
The doctor was very professional and helpful, and both the assistant and the receptionist could not have been nicer.

Very happy w/ this dentist / no complaints at all!

First class service, as usual.

Professional and painless, Dr. Cooper goes out of his way to make sure you're comfortable and tries to avoid causing any pain, just a great touch. His work is neat and accurate. He cares about his patients and his staff are just the same caring and always eager to appease. I am very lucky to have found this dentist and have no plans on going no where.

Staff were friendly, attentive, and polite. The space was large and clean, and the services performed were thorough - all I could ever ask for in a regular cleaning. After such a good experience, I scheduled my 6 month visit right away.

Dr. Cooper is great!!!
Dr. Cooper, is always so pleasant, and very thorough with his exams. He takes the time to listen to every complaint I might have about my teeth and always answers all of my questions. He's great!

Dr. Cooper and his staff are great. They run on-time and they make the appointment very pleasant. I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Cooper's abilities and his knowledge on dental issues. I would highly recommend Dr. Cooper.

Dr. Cooper is a scam. He puts you in a chair, starts doing all these procedures on you, and then charges you an exorbitant amount at the end of the day. I wanted a simple cleaning and check up. Not a full concierge service. I will never ever return to this practice.

I took some of Dr. Cooper's cards for my coworkers - I handed them out with my post-dentist visit smile! Thanks, Dr. Cooper :)

Both he and my dental hygienist were extremely thorough and explained to me what was going on every step of the way, even though it was just a routine exam and cleaning. They were very helpful working with my insurance company also.
This is a tough review to give. The staff in the office were extremely friendly. The doctor was a bit off-putting in his comments and also seemed upset about me not getting a mouth guard- but I had just been out of work for awhile so I was still financially recovering. He definitely didn't let me get a word in to explain that or talk about alternative solutions. I did have a cavity and he filled it fast in a second appointment, but I was really lost in the process, I didn't know what he was doing or why or how. There was no discussion about my overall health of my teeth or the future outlook/precautions. He did inquire about my desire to have cosmetic work, but I gave a firm no, that I am happy with my looks. He made a comment about how it was because I have a boyfriend- which I didn't really appreciate or feel was professional.

Great doctor and very personable staff!

I went in for a cleaning and also to have a broken cavity fixed. I was only able to have the cavity fixed in the appointment as they told me I would have to schedule a different appointment for the cleaning. Dr. Cooper was very thorough in his examination and explained all the steps he was performing. However, at the end of the appointment, he tried to sell me a dental guard (which after a second consultation, I was told I did not need it). They also planned for me to have two one-hour long cleanings on my next visits. Never in my life have I had two cleanings. Interestingly enough, one of the cleanings was not going to be covered under my insurance. I go to the dentist every 6 months and have never had anything particularly difficult in any of my cleanings. Needless to say, two months after my visit, my cavity filling is hurting again. I'll be going to a different dentist for another opinion as well as my cleanings from now on!
They were quick and efficient. Dr. Cooper was intelligent and has a great sense of human. Already made my next 2 appointments with no second thoughts.
Dr. Cooper was pleasant, but not very personal. He didn't explain the process very well, or the charges associated with them. On my second visit, when I told him I couldn't afford an optional bite guard, he seemed genuinely upset with me. I couldn't understand that at all.
The hygenists and Dr. Cooper were very helpful and informative. They really care about their patients and only perform procedures that are absolutely necessary. Thank you for the great teeth cleaning!

Dr. Cooper is hands down the best dentist I've been to. I've been blessed with troublesome teeth (or a troublesome sweet tooth, your call) but Dr. Cooper was very patient and detailed a comprehensive plan for how we're going to prevent my cavities going forward. Just got a root canal from him - literally today - and it was bar far the least pain I've experienced with this procedure (I've unfortunately had one before). If you've been avoiding a visit to the dentist, avoid no longer. Dr. Cooper is your man.

I have been a patient of Dr cooper for over 20 years. For my entire family, he has been awesome and has one of the best bedisde mannerisms with patients. I would highly recommend him.
Dr. Cooper and his staff are very friendly. Dr. Cooper was patient and explained everything very clearly, and provided great recommendations. Everything was very efficient.
It was only my first visit. I felt comfortable with him and feel he knows what he's doing. I did not have any work done today. However, I do have an appointment next Thursday.

Kind, competent and caring. Positive attitude. Staff is terrific. Location is super easy. Best of all he takes insurance. I've already recommended him to coworkers. I'm grateful to have found him.

Office staff was great, very friendly. Dr. Cooper was very thorough and took the time to explain some options that I need to consider. Glad I found this office through Zocdoc.

This is possibly the most friendly dentist office I've ever been to. The receptionist greeted me and introduced me to the other receptionist as well. Then, when it took a moment for her to process my paperwork and create my chart (which I had anticpated anyway), she apologized for taking "so much" time. Dr. Cooper was very thorough and took the time to explain and show to me why/where I needed to have some work done. I definitely appreciated it and while I'm not so happy I have to go back, I know it will be as pleasant an experience as possible.
am not reviewing the dentist here he was ok but the infection control in this clinic is bad !! i did teeth cleaning and i've been to other clinics where that were never an issue for me but here i was really scared bc the hygenist was touching everything with her cloves and then continue cleaning !! not every thing she touched was cover which it should be . am not going back definitely
The office staff is extremely friendly, as well as Dr.Cooper. He tried to include me in what was happening- rather than just shouting numbers to the dental assistant, he explained what they meant. Very nice experience.
I was very comfortable.
