About Dr. Sheryl Weissman

Dr. Weissman graduated from New York University’s College of Dentistry in 1984 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After graduation, she maintained a private practice on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and served as an assistant professor at NYUCD before relocating to Oregon in 1987. Prior to dental school, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.
With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Weissman has loved serving patients from her current downtown Portland location since June 1988. She actively pursues continuing education to ensure her patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care available. Dr. Weissman is a member of numerous dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Multnomah Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, The Sunset Study Club, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and Alpha Omega.
Her most recent career achievement is earning Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction attained by only 7% of AGD member dentists. This rigorous program reflects years of intense study across various dental specialties and demonstrates her dedication to continuing education. Dr. Weissman is committed to your long-term dental health, staying current with the latest procedures to offer you and your family a wide range of diagnostic and treatment options.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Weissman is deeply involved in her community. She has served as a board member of Circle of Life, the Jewish Federation of Portland, and The Maimonides Group. Dr. Weissman was great. It had been a long time since I had been to the dentist and I was very nervous of what problems I might have. But Dr. Weissman explained everything very clearly and directly, told me the plan on how to fix things, and made me feel better about the future of my mouth-health. She will definitely be my permanent dentist for as long as I live here!

It was a very smooth operation. I got in quickly. In this particular case, the Dentist had to work from home, so the Hygienist was the only one I actually saw. The Hygienist relayed information to the Dentist via a shared app and phone calls. So, my rating for her bedside manner is probably low.

I don't normally write reviews but I feel like I need to warn people about this office, the internet has more reviews like mine.
I went in to get a single front tooth bonded for cosmetic reasons, and ended up going through the ringer with a halfway, not even resembling a tooth job, an unfinished root canal, and bills that took 4 months to figure out.
I should have known right away things weren't right in the initial consultation when I was offered an expensive superior toothbrush and toothpaste, but I was naive. So I went along with the process and got to the actual visit to fix the tooth I wanted to fix.
There was random drilling, tooth removal for whatever reason, weird charges on my bill, a final tooth not even resembling a tooth, a filling that didn't "look right" that within 2 minutes turned into "you need a root canal", etc...I wish I could list out all the details but probably nobody will read this.
Long story kinda shorter, I went to an endodontist, who was actually awesome and finished the root canal job in literally 15 minutes. I had the tooth fixed and everything else needed at another dentist, who in comparison was efficient and about as professional as it gets.
The crazy part is this office took 4 months to get me a final bill, and what I was told was covered by my insurance was certainly not. In every other office things were settled in a few weeks, no problems.

The quality of his work is unsurpassed by any other dentist that has ever treated me. He puts me at ease and there is very little to no pain during or after the work that he does. Suffice it to say that the quality of his work has me smiling with an ease that I've never before experienced!

I was referred to Dr. Weissman's office by my health insurance provider, Health Share Oregon. My first appointment was scheduled within reasonable time and Dr. Weissman's office staff was incredible in their assistance in fighting MODA health insurance after they'd preapproved my services and subsequently denied all services including those that had already been completed. Kudos to Amy! :-)
My particular provider is Dr. Wasserman and his sense of humor and professionalism is without compare. At my second appointment he even gave me the choice of musical selection that I would prefer to hear while he was drilling! :-P (which happened to be Peter, Paul and Mary!)
The quality of the work that has been performed is exemplary! I'm actually smiling a lot more these days now that I'm not embarrassed of my teeth.
The level of professionalism exhibited by the entire staff is phenomenal! Not only do they give verbal appointment reminders by phone but by text as well! WOW! :-)
I would and have given many referrals since becoming a patient of Dr. Weissman's practice and will continue to do so!

Always a good experience. Visits are friendly and professional. I believe I have received good home care advice here as well and have had improvement in my gums, which have been kind of an issue for me. Definitely recommend.
