About Dr. Thy Nguyen
Dr. Thy Nguyen (“Dr. T” to his staff and patients) was born in Vietnam. He moved to the United States when he was eight years old and grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The George Washington University, Dr. Nguyen received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore. He graduated in the top of his class, was selected for the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society, and was elected president for the Gorgas Odontological Honorary Society, a merit-based organization.
Dr. Nguyen continued his dental education by completing a residency in Advanced General Dentistry in Baltimore. During his residency, he was elected chief resident by his colleagues and was awarded the Harry W. Dressel Jr. Award for clinical proficiency and total patient care. He also began volunteering his time and skills by participating in local community health fairs.
Dr. Nguyen still has a passion for giving back and continues to volunteer both locally and internationally. As a member of the non-profit organization Operation Smile, he traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam and performed free dental work for poor and deaf children. He went on another missionary trip to the Dominican Republic with the International Dental Implant Association to place dental implants for the underprivileged.
Dr. Nguyen has completed hundreds of hours in advanced surgical training in bone grafting and ridge augmentation, sinus lift surgeries, dental implants, and full mouth reconstruction.
He is also passionate about building confident smiles for his patients with cosmetic treatment options including Invisalign, Composite Veneers, and Porcelain Veneers.
