Dr. Tom Shanakian is a distinguished graduate of the esteemed UCLA School of Dentistry, where he earned his doctorate degree. His academic journey was marked by numerous scholarly achievements, culminating in his completion of a general dentistry residency (GPR) at Rancho Los Amigos in Downey, California, where he was honored as the Resident of the Year, a distinction rarely bestowed.
Driven by a fervent commitment to excellence in dentistry, Dr. Shanakian has actively pursued advanced education and training. He has participated in extensive multi-year continuing education courses and seminars, including Gnathos Orthodontics in Atlanta, Georgia, and The United States Dental Institute in Costa Mesa, California. Through these immersive experiences and his years of dedicated clinical practice, Dr. Shanakian has amassed invaluable expertise in orthodontics, as well as significant proficiency in dental implant and regenerative bone placement procedures.
Beyond his professional pursuits, dentistry remains Dr. Shanakian's lifelong passion, which he approaches with unwavering enthusiasm and dedication. Tom was very friendly, talked me through my xrays and explained everything to me. I had to reschedule because my insurance needs to approve the cleaning aspect so will be coming back in a couple weeks. The staff were all very nice and the office made me feel comfortable!

This was one of my favorite dentists that I have been to in a while (for reference, I'm a travel nurse and see a new dentist in a new state every year). The dentist was so personable and thorough, and he's actually the one who cleaned my teeth too! He did a great job and so did his hygienist. His front desk staff were SO friendly and I was in and out within 45minutes. Booking on ZocDoc was such an ease for me as I work nightshift and they made the process so much easier for me. If I am still in LA in 6 months, I will DEFINITLEY be back. This is the best dental cleaning I have had in a while. Sometimes I have left dental cleanings with my teeth still feeling dirty. This was absolutely NOT the case here. Book here, you won't be disappointed!!

Dr. Tom did an excellent job on extracting my wisdom tooth. I was in so much pain and he was able to fit me into his schedule and take care of my emergency. He was very professional and so accomodating.

Really clean, really well run office. Doctor Tom is very kind and explains things clearly. Even though I hadn't been to the dentist in ages I felt comfortable and informed through out the entire check-up. The dental tech used seems top of the line. The office staff are quick, friendly, and willing to answer any questions you may have. Overall the best dentist visit I've ever had. I'm not super nervous to go to the dentist anymore.

I cannot say enough good things about my dental appointment today. I hadn’t seen a dentist in an embarrassingly long amount of time and their entire staff made me feel incredibly cared for and comfortable. It was probably the best experience I’ve ever had at a dentist.
