What is Aetna?

Aetna is a multifaceted healthcare benefits organization serving approximately 35.3 million individuals. Established in 1853, it has become a prominent health insurance provider in the United States. Headquartered in Connecticut, the firm provides various health insurance products and associated services and covers medical, pharmacy, dental, and behavioral health needs.

Aetna's services and its international branch

Aside from the aforementioned, Aetna provides group life and disability plans, medical management capabilities, and Medicaid healthcare management services. It caters to a diverse clientele, including employer groups, individuals, college students, part-time and hourly workers, health plans, governmental units, government-sponsored plans, labor groups, and expatriates. Operating across three business segments—Health Care, Group Insurance, and Large Case Pensions—Aetna expanded its portfolio in December 2010 by acquiring Medicity Inc., a health information exchange company.

Meanwhile, Aetna International, a division of Aetna® and the CVS Health® family of companies boasts a rich legacy spanning 170 years and over 60 years of expertise in global medical benefits. It caters to expatriates, repatriates, local nationals, and business travelers, offering access to healthcare services in more than 200 countries and territories.

The company recently offered 100% coverage for care outside the United States. As a result, the process became more streamlined and hassle-free, with covered benefits bearing no member costs. Due to these efforts, Aetna's member satisfaction is 98%, and its average customer retention rate is 95%.

Who is a dermatologist?

The skin, your body's largest organ, serves numerous crucial functions, such as acting as a barrier against bacteria and shielding you from extreme temperatures and harmful agents. It possesses pigments like melanin that provide a chemical defense against ultraviolet light, safeguarding skin cells. Despite these, dangerous microbes can infiltrate the body through the skin due to environmental exposure, immune response, and hygiene practices.

When addressing skin-related concerns, consulting a specialized physician is paramount. In this case, it's dermatologists. They are experts in managing skin, hair, nail issues, and cosmetic conditions.

Dermatologists are also proficient in performing minor and major surgical procedures and cosmetic interventions such as sclerotherapy and chemical peels.

Moreover, skin manifestations can sometimes indicate underlying internal diseases or infections, highlighting the importance of regular dermatological assessments. For example, peculiar skin discolorations or growths might signify potential heart disease, prompting a dermatologist to initiate immediate diagnosis and treatment to prevent complications.

Further, early signs of conditions like cancer or bodily abnormalities may also show on the skin, making routine dermatologist visits crucial for timely detection and intervention.
