About Dr. John LaBanc

Upon completion of his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital-Dallas, TX in 1985, Dr. LaBanc began his career in academics. At the University of Florida in Gainesville he quickly became a recognized national and international expert and researcher in the microneurosurgical repair of trigeminal nerve injuries, craniofacial reconstructive surgery, and facial aesthetic surgery. Dr. LaBanc transitioned from academics into the U. S. Navy in 1998. He narrowed his scope of practice to orthognathic surgery and facial aesthetic surgery. It was during his first deployment to Iraq that he discovered a passion for operational trauma systems and care. He subsequently served as a consultant to the Navy Health Research Institute focusing on maxillofacial injuries and forward resuscitative care. He is also an internationally recognized expert in humanitarian assistance/disaster response, combat trauma care and reconstructive surgery.
