By watching her parents go through in vitro fertilization (IVF) as a child, Dr. Schwartz’s interest in pregnancy and fertility was ignited at a young age. “I started medical school knowing I wanted to specialize in fertility and was willing to do whatever it took to get there,” she says. After graduating from NJMS, she completed her OBGYN residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and was a gynecology staff clinician at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Schwartz then remained at the NIH to complete her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) and received specialized training in fertility preservation. While patients benefit from Dr. Schwartz’s professional expertise, she also connects with them through her personal experience. Dr. Schwartz and her wife both went through IVF, and she understands the emotional journey of fertility treatment: “While I would never imply that I know exactly what a patient is feeling, my personal experiences as a patient and partner help me understand where their feelings are coming from and what support they need.” Joining RMA to help patients build their families seemed like Dr. Schwartz's destiny. “As someone who grew up in New Jersey and wanted to specialize in fertility, there was no question about where I wanted to work,” she says. I was drawn to RMA’s commitment to patient care and furthering the field of fertility through cutting-edge research.”
