I am a board certified psychiatrist who practices psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. My areas of focus are mood and anxiety disorders, sleep disturbances, trauma (including but not limited to PTSD) as well as co-occurring addictive disorders. My belief is, that each and every person has a strong internal motivation for finding fulfillment and happiness in life, despite the difficulties that one may face. Therefore, I take a collaborative, person-centered approach to develop a treatment plan that is relevant to one’s goals and philosophy of life. I use a variety of specialized modalities, which may include a motivational approach, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness and relaxation techniques, insight oriented therapy, and, if required, medication treatment.
After arriving in the US from Poland, I completed my psychiatry residency at St. Luke’s –Roosevelt Hospital with further training in Addiction Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. Following my Fellowship at Yale, I joined the faculty at Mount Sinai Hospital utilizing an integrative approach in providing psychiatric treatment to responders, who worked or volunteered during the rescue and recovery effort following the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks. Currently, I combine psychiatry work at Beth Israel Medical Center and my private practice.
