More about Dr. Alexander Sheppe, MD

*Prior to confirming your appointment, I will reach out to you by phone to discuss your needs, and to discuss my practice policies.* *I am seeing all patients via telepsychiatry during the coronavirus outbreak.* *Note that I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance.* PHILOSOPHY The world can be a difficult place, and my calling is to help by getting to know you as a human being with a story. I specialize in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry — I treat a wide range of ages and difficulties. There are times when the careful use of medication may be helpful and even life-saving — and medication may not always address the needs of the whole person. I can also help you write and rewrite your story with an integration of compassion, common sense, and years of training in a variety of evidence-based psychotherapies. For comprehensive evaluations, consultations, and ongoing treatment, please reach out at the number above. I look forward to learning more about you. EXPERTISE I am board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and I have advanced training in the medication management of psychiatric conditions in children, adolescents, and adults. I also have advanced training in a variety of psychotherapy modalities including psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, supportive psychotherapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and prolonged exposure therapy for PTSD. I have also completed intensive training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) with Marsha Linehan's Behavioral Tech Company, and I have experience practicing DBT with adolescents and adults. I look forward to learning more about you!

A lot of doctors will only tell you what you want to hear, but Dr. Sheppe will do more than that. Dr. Sheppe is honest and down-to-earth, balancing truth about tough changes that will help you with comfort and compassion. I appreciate him doing the hard work of change with me.
Dr. Sheppe really gets it. He provided me with exceptional advice and recommendations. He was also quite kind and understanding. I quickly discerned that he was beyond an expert within psychiatry. He not only addressed my question and concerns but explained extremely detailed and minute critical details, in clear and concise terms I thoroughly understood. Beyond any doubt at all, I very highly recommend Dr. Sheppe!
Dr. Sheppe gave me the answers to questions that had lingered for years. I wish I had asked much earlier. He is clear, coherent, and thorough. Thank you so much!
Dr. Sheppe is intuitive, clear, and concise. He was very kind and showed a deep interest in my problem. He provided information that has been helpful and gave me some directions to go for further resolution of my issues. His handling of medication is thoughtful and superb. I can't recommend him highly enough!
A psychiatrist that does more than merely talk about dosages -- he combines pharmacology with effective strategies on how to get the most benefit from the medication.
I've worked with Dr. Sheppe several times and he was beyond professional, respectful, and demonstrates a very true concern. I love working with him!
