First of all I was looking for a Renal Dietitian. Alex popped up on a google search. I was just diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure. She took the time to listen to all my questions and talked over my options. Using her ideas and suggestions. I was able to lose weight and improve my kidney function. My Nephrologist tells me I'm now a stage 3...which he says its quite unheard of.

I felt very comfortable with Alex, she explained everything with great detail. The meal plan was easy to follow and I really learned some great habits. She really listened to you and was able to really help you set some realistic goals. I felt nervous going into my first appointment but when I left I felt a sense of relief and readiness to get my nutrition back on track.

I have always been a foodie and even as a child I had a love of cooking and an interest in health. I feel strongly that everyone should be able to enjoy their food and at the same time feel comfortable with their own body. I am always trying to come up with creative solutions to the challenges that keep my clients from optimal health and wellness.
I counsel adults and adolescents with a variety of dietary needs—including health and wellness, eating disorders, diabetes, kidney disease, cardiac disease, PCOS, pre- and post-natal nutrition, relationship with food, and more. I focus on easy-to-implement lifestyle changes, alongside continuous motivation and guidance.
In addition to overseeing my private practice, I have six years of experience teaching as a a lecturer with SUNY College at Oneonta where I taught undergraduate students how to become excellent Dietitians. I taught courses in nutrition education and counseling, food science and cooking, as well as basic nutrition before going full time in my private practice in 2021. I also have experience working in various positions as a Registered Dietitian within the areas of long-term care, acute care, private practice, and home care.
I completed my dietetic internship at SUNY College at Oneonta and received my didactic program in dietetics certificate from there as well. Most recently I am completing training to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor so I can walk my clients through regaining a healthy relationship with food and body image.

Alex helps me to be make healthier choices with reachable goals. I am able to still eat out with friends or satisfy a craving without feeling like I “cheated” on my diet. Alex has also encouraged me to have a healthy body image. I love how she helps you work with your body and the food your putting into it!

Alex is someone who at first I did not want, but needed very badly, in my life. I was struggling terribly with an eating disorder and my therapist finally said enough is enough, it is time to see a Dietician. Once I gave Alex a chance and was able to open up to her about my struggles, it was amazing.
She did, and continues to do, everything she can for me. When she knows I need to be pushed, she pushes me. But when she knows I am struggling, there isn't anything she wouldn't do to help me. She finds every resource out there to help me if she doesn't have the resource herself.
I truly do not know where I would be without Alex and her guidance through this journey. She is compassionate with her clients, passionate about her work, and I know I can depend on her whenever I am in need of help. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking to get into a healthier lifestyle, but especially if you are suffering from an eating disorder. She guided me to a healthy life and is helping me maintain it. She is the best!

Alex is wonderful and so knowledgeable with any nutrition needs you may have. Along with her experience and expertise she genuinely cares about the well being of those she works with. For myself and my family she has made such a positive impact and I would without hesitation recommend her to anyone with all types of nutrition needs, we are very grateful to work with her.

My visits with Alex Nicolette so far have been very informative and helpful. She is very knowledgeable about nutrition and is not judgmental nor does she push you to do things you are not comfortable with. She will suggest a few different goals and allows you to pick which ones you would like to try.
