More about Dr. Alireza Goodarzi, MD
I was born in Tehran and grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo, N.Y., where I later attended the University of New York at Buffalo and studied biology and theater. It was during participation in our theater production when I experienced the value of working together firsthand. I channeled this collaborative spirit toward volunteering with my local community as well, in which I helped address the health care needs of our local underserved population. In witnessing the numerous factors which influence a community’s health, I grew inspired to pursue medicine and work in a team of like-minded individuals also committed to providing medical care. I attended Medical University of Lublin, Poland, where I discovered early on that the best way of transcending cultures is by exercising empathy and compassion. During my clinical rotations in New York, I found that specializing in family medicine would allow me to play an integral role in supporting the health of my community.
Based on the experiences that I’ve had as a medical student and interviewing with programs, I’ve noticed that at LVHN the aim is to create a close-knit group. This is an important aspect of support that exists among all members of our program.
