About Alysia August
After graduating from Auburn University, Alysia and her husband moved to London, UK, for a grand adventure. They lived in London for seven years, and their eldest daughter was born there. Soon after, they relocated back to Atlanta, where Alysia began working as a medical assistant at Dermatology Affiliates. Dr. Forney and the other providers trained her from the ground up in dermatology, and she continued working while she had her two youngest kids. Alysia worked for seven years as a medical assistant at DA before starting PA school at Mercer University. After graduation, she accepted a job to come back home to Dermatology Affiliates.
Alysia loves to help patients feel empowered to keep their skin clear and healthy, and she’s passionate about sun protection. She loves forming relationships with patients as she helps them reach their goals.
Alysia is a member of Georgia Association of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants, and Georgia Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Alysia is originally from Birmingham, Alabama, but joined the Atlanta community more than 10 years ago. She lives in North Druid Hills with her husband, three young kids, and an elderly dog named Piper. With an eleven-year-old, an eight-year-old, and a five-year-old, most of Alysia’s hobbies include driving her children to their hobbies, but when the chance arises, she loves to read, to travel, and to spend time with friends and family.

I had a fantastic appointment with Alysia August for my first (long-overdue) annual skin check. I was seen promptly, and Alysia succinctly and thoroughly explained the basics of monthly skin checks, things to keep an eye out for, and overall good skincare habits. I also had a few skin tags removed, which was similarly done expeditiously; since doing so counts as a cosmetic procedure it was not covered by insurance, but given what I'd read about what some dermatologists' office charge I found the rate quite reasonable. (It's a flat charge for up to 15 tags removed.) Very glad to have found Alysia for my annual check.

Awesome staff from the front desk to the medical assistant & provider. The provider listened to my concerns and immediately began treatment same day. She was knowledgable about my skin which is a concern for people of color but she knew how to handle my hypertrophic scars. I will be returning for all of my skin concerns.

I had the most amazing experience, especially with dealing with a sensitive skin condition. She and the entire team was helpful and proactive in aiding me with the best solutions for my current condition. Although, they don't accept my insurance, I do plan on furthering my medical process, that's because they are that great! I am confident and excited that I will see results soon based on the plan in motion. I will highly recommend this office.
