Getting to know Amanda Anazia

I became a psychiatric provider because I know what it feels like to not feel heard as a patient. That experience wanting real answers and clear options is exactly why I built Break the Stigma Psychiatry, and it shapes every appointment I have. I'm Amanda Anazia, a dual board-certified Psychiatric and Family Nurse Practitioner and founder of Break the Stigma Psychiatry. I earned my Master's in Nursing and Post-Master's Certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from UTHealth Houston. I provide telehealth medication management for adults across Texas living with depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and OCD — with a particular focus on complex presentations that don't fit neatly into one diagnosis. My approach is collaborative and judgment-free. I'll explain your options in plain language, walk you through the "why" behind every recommendation, and build a treatment plan around your real life — not a textbook. For my ADHD patients, I go beyond medication by integrating CBT-based strategies to build real-world skills alongside psychiatric treatment. If you've had experiences that left you feeling dismissed or misunderstood that changes here. My goal is for every patient to leave feeling informed, respected, and genuinely cared for. If you're ready to try again, or just curious about what care could look like, I'd love to be your provider. ADHD APPOINTMENTS: Due to strict pharmacy policies, only patients located in Austin or within 50 miles of Austin can be prescribed stimulants. If you live outside that range, stimulant prescriptions cannot be filled.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach medication management with openness and without judgment — applauding your courage for reaching out and taking this step. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it's one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself, and I never want you to feel shame for prioritizing your mental health. My goal is to break the stigma around mental illness, medication, and psychiatric care. Too many people delay getting help because they're afraid of being labeled, misunderstood, or dismissed. That's not the experience you'll have here. I believe you already possess the internal answers you need sometimes you just need support organizing and processing them to find the right path forward. My role is to be a collaborative partner in that process, not someone who hands you a prescription and sends you on your way. I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and personalized treatment plans for depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, and more. For my ADHD patients, I also integrate CBT-based strategies alongside medication to build real-world skills and lasting results not just symptom management. Every plan is built around your life, your goals, and what actually works for you. You'll always leave an appointment knowing your options, understanding the reasoning behind your care, and feeling heard.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Getting started is simple. Once you book your initial appointment, you'll receive intake paperwork to complete beforehand covering your mental health history, current symptoms, medications, and goals for care. Completing this ahead of time means we can spend our first session actually talking — not filling out forms. Initial Evaluation (60 minutes) Our first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. This is where I get to know you and your history, your experiences, what's worked, what hasn't, and what you're hoping to achieve. I'll ask questions, but I'll also listen. By the end, we'll discuss my clinical impressions and work together to build a personalized treatment plan that makes sense for your life. Follow-Up Appointments (30 or 60 minutes) After your initial evaluation, follow-up visits are focused on medication management checking in on how you're responding to treatment, adjusting as needed, and addressing any new concerns. I typically see new patients monthly until we find a stable, effective plan, then move to quarterly visits for established patients. Between Appointments You'll have access to a patient portal to send messages, request refills, and manage your care between visits. I believe good psychiatric care doesn't stop when the appointment ends — if something comes up, you'll have a way to reach us. My goal from day one is to make you feel like a partner in your own care - informed, respected, and never rushed.

Absolute stand out amongst the many providers i've seen throughout the years. Genuine, intelligent, caring, straightforward and on top of things. Dr Anazia is incredibly knowledgeable and understanding about neurodivergence, medications and methods of care and maintenance. She doesn't make you feel rushed or unheard, rather quite the opposite. She is such a light & it's a relief to have found a provider like her along this mental health journey.

Amanda is really rushed and short on video appointments. I don’t feel any care and just get my prescription renewed, which I guess is fine.
